How I photograph a wedding
I don't try to control the day. I trust what's in front of me: the relationships, the emotion, the rhythm of it all. My job is to be quietly everywhere — reading the light, anticipating the moment before it happens, and letting the real story unfold.
With over 400 weddings photographed since 2009, I've learned that the images couples treasure most aren't the posed ones. They're the glance during the toast, the grandmother's hands, the two minutes you stole alone at sunset. That's what I'm there for.
You'll get direction when you want it and space when you don't. Most couples tell me the day felt easy — that it felt like having a friend there who happened to make beautiful photographs.

How far in advance should we book?
Most couples book 9–14 months ahead, and popular dates (May–October Saturdays) often go first. That said, reach out whatever your timeline — I keep some flexibility for shorter engagements.
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes — I'm based in Cedar Rapids and photograph weddings across Iowa (Iowa City, Des Moines, Dubuque, the Quad Cities) and worldwide. Travel within Iowa is included; for destination weddings I put together a simple custom quote.
How many photos will we receive, and when?
A full wedding day typically delivers 500–800 fully edited images. You'll see a preview within days, and the complete gallery arrives within 6–8 weeks — every image retouched, none watermarked, all with a print release.
What if we're awkward in front of the camera?
Almost everyone says this, and it's exactly what my approach is built for. There's no stiff posing — I give you simple, natural prompts and photograph what actually happens. The engagement session included with every collection is a relaxed practice run.
Do you offer engagement sessions?
Every wedding collection includes an engagement session. It's the best way for us to work together before the wedding — you get beautiful images for invitations, and the wedding day feels familiar instead of new.
