The Story
Three legendary architects — Saarinen, Pei, and Meier — built the Des Moines Art Center across five decades. Hannah and Scott got married inside that story, and the building did what great architecture does: it framed everything.
For couples who love clean lines and intentional space, there may be no better Iowa venue than the Des Moines Art Center. Hannah and Scott's day moved through it like a gallery walk — marble, glass, courtyard light, and sculpture at every turn.
Photographing here is a study in restraint: let the geometry do the composing, wait for the light to rake across a wall, and keep the people the warmest thing in every frame. Their gallery is equal parts portrait session and architecture study — exactly what they wanted.

The architecture
Each wing photographs differently — Saarinen's warm stone, Pei's brutalist concrete, Meier's white porcelain panels. We plan the portrait route around all three.
The courtyard
The reflecting pool courtyard is the ceremony-hour gem, and the rose garden below Greenwood Park is minutes away for a softer look.
