Galena weddings, photographed from an hour away.

Galena fills its calendar with couples from Chicago, and most of them fly their photographer in. You don't have to. Studio Y is an hour west, across the river.

The corridor between Dubuque and Galena is home ground: the bluffs, the river towns, the resort ridges and the inns off Main Street, the barns and family land between them. Weddings here carry no travel charge. And because the studio is based in Iowa, the pricing is Iowa's, not Chicago's: editorial photographers of comparable experience in the city begin around $8,500, and Studio Y collections begin at $5,500.

The towns

Galena's Main Street and hillside inns, Dubuque's bluffs and river architecture, and the farmland ridges between. Twenty minutes end to end, and every mile photographs.

The light

River valleys hold golden hour longer than open prairie. The bluffs catch last light on the high ground while the water keeps a soft glow below. We plan portraits around both.

How booking works

Same collections, same albums, same photographer as every Studio Y wedding. No travel line on the invoice anywhere in the corridor, and Chicago and Lake Geneva are quoted with travel included rather than added afterward.

Aaron and JoAnna married at Four Mounds, on the Dubuque bluffs twenty minutes from Galena. Their day is a fair preview of what this country gives a wedding.
